In preparation for this year’s Valborg På Campus, we’ve been faced with several last-minute decisions from the Swedish Police Authority that significantly impact the event’s setup. Despite submitting all necessary applications and documentation well in advance, we were only recently – just weeks before the event – informed that the police have decided to implement a bag ban across the festival area, as well as designate part of the area as completely alcohol-free.
As organizers, we have not received a clear explanation as to why these decisions have been made. Despite requests for a dialogue, we have been denied a meeting that would have helped us understand the reasoning behind the authorities’ judgment.
We share the frustration many of you are likely feeling, and truly wish we could offer better explanations. However, we are required by law to comply with the decisions.
On this page, we explain what these regulations mean in practice and how they may affect your experience at Valborg På Campus 2025.
The Swedish Police Authority has decided that an alcohol-free zone will apply to the area around the stage (marked in pink on the map). We understand that this has been a very popular spot to sit and enjoy the day – and we hope you’ll still want to hang out there, just without consuming or carrying alcohol in that specific area. Of course, it’s still allowed to consume or carry your own alcohol in the rest of the festival area.
As previously announced, a total bag ban will be in effect at Valborg På Campus 2025. This means that no handbags, backpacks, tote bags, plastic bags, or similar items may be brought into the festival area from outside. Exceptions to the ban will only be made for visitors with medical needs, upon presentation of valid documentation or by special agreement. We’re fully aware that this decision comes very late, and to help compensate, we’ve taken the following measures:
Each visitor will be able to take a free plastic bag at the entrance to carry their belongings during the event.
We will also be selling 1,000 tote bags with the VPC logo at cost price, for those who prefer that option.
